State Bank of India (SBI) offers a bunch of methods to update/ change mobile numbers in bank accounts. These methods can be performed both online and offline as per the comfort and preference of the bank account holders. So just in case, you got a new mobile number and want to replace it with the existing number of your SBI bank, follow this step-by-step guide to change/update your SBI mobile number through net banking, ATM, and bank brand.
Net banking is a one-stop hub for everything related to your personal bank account such as checking statements, making payments, availing services, etc. It can also help a user to change their bank’s registered mobile number.
Step 1: Visit SBI’s official net baking website
Step 2: Now login with your credentials and head over to the ‘Profile‘ section
Step 3: From there click on ‘Personal details‘ option
Step 4: Enter the profile’s password to proceed further
Step 5: Now select ‘Change Mobile Number- Domestic Only (Through OTP/ATM)‘
Step 6: On the next screen, you will be asked to enter the new mobile number. Once done, select ‘Ok‘
Apart from withdrawing and depositing cash into your bank account, an ATM can also help you change the mobile number of your account. The procedure to do so is as follows.
Step 1: First of, visit a nearby ATM in your locality
Step 2: Next insert the debit card into the ATM and enter the pin
Step 3: Now select the ‘Mobile number registration’ option visible on the screen
Step 4: From here select ‘Change mobile number’
Step 5: Now enter your old and existing mobile number for confirmation
Step 6: After that, enter the new mobile number you wish to change to
Step 7: You will receive OTPs on both the old and new mobile numbers along with the reference number
Step 8: Now open the ‘Messages‘ app on your phone and create a new SMS in the format of ACTIVATE IOTP VALUE + REF NUMBER and send it to 567676 within 4 hours. Here ‘IOTP VALUE’ represents the OTP you received on your mobile number
Step 9: Once the SMS is sent, you’ll have your mobile number updated in the bank account shortly
If you prefer getting your registered mobile number changed physically, then visiting a nearby SBI branch could also get the job done. Here’s how.
Step 1: First, locate an SBI branch nearby. Once found head over there with the necessary documents such as an Aadhaar card
Step 2: Next, ask the SBI executive to update your registered mobile number in your bank account
Step 3: Then, you may be given a form to fill out. Enter all the important details along with the new phone number
Step 4: Hand over the filled form to the executive to send in your mobile number updation request
Step 5: After submission, the bank may notify you through SMS or email upon successful phone number change in the next couple of days
To check the status of your mobile number updation of your SBI bank account, you will need to visit and log in to the SBI portal on a browser. Under the ‘Profile’ section, find the ‘Personal details’ option which will contain ‘Change mobile number’ settings. From here, you can check the mobile number change status of your SBI account.

It can take anywhere between a couple of hours to days for the new mobile number to reflect on your SBI bank account. For instance, when updating the mobile number via online methods, the bank may process the request within a few hours and complete it in 3 days. As for the offline methods where the bank holder is required to head over to an ATM or SBI branch, it can take around 14 days to process the mobile number change application.
